For that matter, what are the odds that Stone will retire before HE expires? Slim to none. Did he step aside as committeeman when everyone (including the mayor) said he should? Did he give up his honorary vice-mayor title (and real payroll) when the mayor asked. Barring unforeseen circumstances (health and/or indictments) Stone is in office for the duration.<BR/><BR/>Hopefully, Bernie's finally gotten the message that he shouldn't think about running again. He won't have the mayor's support or troops. He won't have the committeeman's support. And he won't have his bagman/ward superintendent handling Devon Ave. fundraising and absentee ballots. It would be tough going.<BR/><BR/>As someone else said, Arizona should be looking mighty nice about now.
