What the hell? Why would you promote that hatemonger? Salman Aftab has a violent history and a police record to prove it! The Nation even covered his little incident

Salman Aftab has no business running for ANY office. The people of the 50th ward deserve to know that this guy is dangerous.
I'm not promoting any candidate and you have the opportunity to make your case. What I am doing is trying to be fair about the candidates running against Ald. Stone and provide an opportunity for communication on this critical race. That's why I wrote my wish that SEIU would be fair. The most important thing is to beat Berny Stone. That is the most important thing. I don't think anyone believes Aftab can do that. When Brewer and Dolar put up their yard signs, those will get posted to.

Sal Aftab is NOT a hatemonger. The incident that which you referred, represent a snap shot in time over the 20 years that Ifti Nasim and Sal had been close friends. A sign of true friendship is being able to overcome misunderstandings and continue to remain close friends. Nasim was one of the key note speakers at his fundraiser on August 8th, 2006.
You are reading only one part of the story in thenation.com. There are no comments from witnesses, there are no comments from Sal in that article.
Their argument had nothing to do with the topic of anything relating to sexual orientation. Their arguement had to do with an article written by Nasim.
Those comments supposedly made by Nasim in that article are lies.

Mr. Aftab is a meathead. He has know formal training or experience in politics; his education is suspect as he never provides us with his background; he claims that he is the editor of some Afghan news service, the Director of IT at a consulting firm as well as a journalist. How on earth do you juggle such hectic activities!? Furthermore, I have yet to see anything that he's written with a byline credited to him for a respectable media outlet.
He proposes a lot of solutions to the growing issues in and around West Devon, but doesn't support it with corroboration. His suggestion to improve schools and diminish gang activity is stating the obvious. Who doesn't want to provide that for their children? But how do you plan on paying for the expenses? One would assume that if you went to his website, you would receive legitimate answers. But there isn't anything except the same old slop on his visions and dreams. In addition, he has an arrest record as well as instigating verbal and physical altercations a dozen times, i.e. Pakistan Independence Day in Arlington Heights, Summer 2006.
This man is clearly an idiot if he thinks he can just waltz into this campaign and assume that the honest people of West Rogers park are going to pick someone who moved to this country just 10 years ago. Honestly people, is this someone who you want to represent you in the community ? I think not.
If anyone's gone to Mr. Aftab's website, half of the context is devoted to vindicating Ald. Stone's character and reputation as an Alderman. I don't want to advocate that Alderman Stone is the right person for the position, because he's not. But at the same time, Mr. Aftab is clearly just an obnoxious peppered thug who wants to slam his opponents with grade-school tactics.
And this guy is running for Alderman ? Christ, what a loser.
stone is selfish, alderman is a parttime job which currently pays him $98,000 a year and alderman stone says not enough pay for parttime job and he is seeking a $20,000 pay raise after 33 years as a alderman. you tell me if that is fair. mr. aftab says he will give 40% of his pay to the community.
What was that last post trying to say ? I didn't understand it. And so what if he wants a pay raise. After 33 years of service, getting a pay raise of $20,000 is nothing! Most employees at corporations make more than that in 15 years.
Sal Aftab is a loser. He thinks by taking a pay cut of 40% makes him some darling underdog champion for the community. That roughly comes to $39,000. Big deal. What is that going to do on the overall scheme of things. Maybe he can use that money to bail himself out the next time he gets arrested.
