Ira Wins Lottery!

St. Sen. Silverstein, having filed his petitions at 9:00am on October 29, will be listed first on the February ballot. Ald. Stone also was in line and filed at 9:00am, which necessitated the lottery. Ira won the lottery for the first position on the ballot.

My dad, brilliant political mind that he has, says that winning the lottery is just like winning the lottery. There are extra votes to be had by being first on the ballot. That's why candidates get up and stand in line on the morning of the first day of filing. Given how close Stone's election was in April, a few extra votes for his opponent may be all that's needed to send Berny packing. It is interesting that he was one of the few incumbents who lost the ballot lottery. Maybe the stars are finally aligning in our favor!

Happy Thanksgiving, Dear Readers. I hope you cherish this time with your families and loved ones.

I have a job. I think Berny Stone is a disgrace to the ward but Ira Silverstein isn't any better. Therefore, I will take a Green Party ballot and elect Rex English 50th Ward Committeman for the real party serving the people! Enough with 80 year olds in office and our failed 2 party system!

let's not forget the wisdom of the ages...Berny Stone who may be 80 years old, has full mental capacity. His accumulated wisdom is something we can only learn from & soak up his knowledge. The fact is he serves every member of his ward no matter religion or race & that comes from his wisdom "of the ages". Do not be so quick to judge someone by their age, as you will one day shortly be there too & I can only hope you have Berny's mental capacity. don't forget our greatest President Ronald Reagn was no youngster however accomplished the Iron Curtain coming down. By the way, why do you sign anonymous? is there a problem with your name? or have you no guts?

Sam-

Ronald Reagan was not our greatest president. Our two greatest presidents were Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower. Henry Wallace and Robert Taft were the two greatest presidents America never had!

I for one will still take a Green Party ballot. Why not try something new and vote for Rex? A man who bikes to his job at Evanston Hospital daily has got to be good!

Rex lives with a psycho that dosent take her medication regularly, I would also get on my bike & get the hell out of there. I happen to be orthodox & live across the meshugnah who screams every shabbos morning before shul & if I wanted a green party candidate I would vote for Jay Stone who is definetly eco & green friendly.

Sam,

You might have a little trouble convincing your neighbors that Berny Stone and wisdom can be used at the same time. Now I'm not old enough to know if Stone has always been this incoherent, but I am repeatedly shocked that his staff or family (same thing) let him speak in public. If Avy wasn't there to complete his sentences, he'd still being trying to think what he means to say.

I am not surprised that city workers laugh at our alderman. I am told he brings it upon himself, and what we see locally serves to confirm that. In the end, Stone is just old. If there's any knowledge to soak up, it must be so esoteric that it wouldn't interest most of us. What has Stone done for us lately? Nothing worth mentioning.

Sam-

All the more reason to vote for Rex. If he is elected Green Party Committeeman, he will get out of the house more!

Be Green and Good on 2-5-08!

Have a great 3rd party week-David L.

How can voting for a Green Party Canidate for a party office, in a party thats does nothing and can do nothing help anyone but this Rex Dude?. Committeman is non paid, position within a party. When is the last time any third party party got anything done in this city or state?

Friends we are building for the future. Rich Whitney took 11% of the IL gubernatorial vote last year. We have a chance to make the Green Party what the NDP is in Canada, a viable political alternative influencing and making national and local policy. The fact that Bernie Stone could call both old line parties his home is reason enough for any sane person to stay clear of them.

Hope you are having a Green Day!

Berny Stone's political hatchetman, Alan Crown (a Cook County payroller) told me that Stone's motley crew may decide to become Republicans, should they lose the Democrat Committeemanship to ultra-liberal, Ira Silverstein.

That is why they are keeping Stone's pal, Rabbi Ken Hollander, on the ballot to remain as Republican Committeeman of the 50th Ward.

Hollander is also a Cook County payroller, is Stone's good pal and has been invisible, except when he re-emerges every 4 years to give the 50th Ward GOP endorsement to his Democrat Committeeman pal, Berny Stone.

Crown is also orchestrating theDem. primary challenge to lefty, Jan Schakowsky.

Stone briefly became a Republican before, in the wake of Harold Washington's mayoral win, when the 50th Ward voted overwhelmingly anti-Washington.

Will Committeeman Ira Silverstein advocate that the 3,000 illegal alien students currently in 50th Ward schools at $6k per kid per year be admitted to the Arie Crown Academy on Pratt St., free of charge?

It would be consistent with his vote to give in-state tuition to illegal aliens.

Put your money where your mouth is, Ira.

There is nothing incoherent about the way Berny Stone speaks, perhaps you should go sit down with him & have a conversation. What a horrible thing to say! he's old? since when did being old matter? age was always treated with reverance! what is the matter with you people? do you want your children making fun of your old age? what idiocy! as far as Ira is concerned he will allow all the illegals to move into the neighberhood, then we can all be one big happy green family.

Sam,

Are you saying that Berny's numerous and repeatedly incoherent appearances on NTNM do not represent his mental faculties? If you watch those shows and don't think Stone is, well, mentally challenged, then I don't know what to say. But many of us are embarrassed by Berny's rantings. I know he likes or needs the attention, but there's nothing coherent about it.

I don't care how old Stone is. I care that he sleeps in meetings, including City Council meetings at which millions of dollars of property tax increases and bond sales and property tax subsidies are decided. I'd just as pissed if my alderman were a 20-something who slept on the job.

which Schakowsky challenger or challengers is Crown backing?

I just want to know so after Schakowsky kicks their asses in Feb we can all have a good laugh at Crown and Stone over the numbers they put up

Jan will beat them in the 50th Ward, too. Republicans may not like her, but the people of the 50th do. Her devotion to Devon Ave. is unusual -- and she doesn't use it to advertise herself. People here genuinely like her, and she doesn't have to twist anyone's arms to get their support. Imagine that!
