Naisy Dolar Lied about Residency

As many people know, I'm a big fan of Rich Miller's CapitalFaxBlog. Yesterday, Rich started a thread on local elections, and in it, we discover the reason why Naisy changed her website this year.

Naisy's claim about being a 30 year resident of the 50th Ward is false. She went to high school in Panama City, FL. In one comment, Rich confirms this fact himself. Another commenter on a different blog states that Naisy attended Rutherford High School.

I don't know about you, but honesty and integrity are two things I expect from people who want my vote. Especially when it's about little things. The real question is why Naisy lied about this. I agree with NDNeighbor that it doesn't make any sense to lie about something so minor as how long you've lived in the ward. What difference would it make to voters if, instead of 30 years residency, it was only 22 years?

What this tells us is that Naisy is not confident about her own credentials. She feels the need to exaggerate her experience and residency. It's a rookie mistake. It wasn't like she was going to win anyway. But still, her credibility and integrity are now in doubt.

Maybe somebody should ask Naisy why she would lie about having lived in Florida. That makes no sense. I wonder if something happened with her family or something.

Your accusation is false and misleading. Naisy is a longtime resident of the 50th ward. She lives in the house she grew up in. She does not nor has she ever denied that she attended high school in Florida.

An early version of her bio did mistakenly list her as a 30 resident and it has been corrected.

From the walk piece being distributed last week (at least that is when it showed up at my door).

"Naisy Dolar ... is a 30-year resident of the 50th ward [sic] who believes ..."

From her web site, pre New Years.

"Naisy has lived in the West Ridge/Rogers Park area for over 30 years."

And then, there is the fact that she said the same thing at the Viceroy event. You all were taping that night. You should know better.

I know this falsehood predated you Marissa, but pretending it was a mistake is kind of odd. I know if someone asked me where I had lived, I have to think about it before telling them.

If Naisy can't even get where she has lived straight, than why should we vote for her?

I think that Naisy should be proud of being a homecoming queen! Think about it: she would probably be the first homecoming queen elected to City Council!

So Naisy lived here as a kid and then came back to go to college but that didn't sound as good as "lifelong resident". Is that it? She's got a story she wants to tell and if it doesn't fit the facts that's just too bad. So marketing wins over integrity.

Oh, I get it, Plan A didn't work - now you're switching to Plan B.

Note to Naisy, stop putting your campaign signs in the 49th ward public way space. I spotted one at Morse and Sheridan a week ago. Your campaign made our 49th ward supervisor have to clean up your mess! At the taxpayers expense no less.

Oh, and don't tell us, Bernie put your sign there to make you look bad.

How long have Salman Aftab and Greg Brewer lived in the 50th ward?

I don't think anyone cares that Naisy has only lived in the ward 20 or so years instead of 30. The concern is that she misled us (me) about it. And her Campaign Manager blew it off, said it was corrected, when it wasn't.

Brewer has iven the ward about 5 years and did not vote in the 2003 Municipal Elections. Not sure about the other guy.

I think Sal Aftab has lived in the 50th ward for about 5 years. He's somewhere from the West Rogers neighborhood. The problem with him is though that I don't know what he's saying half the time. He either speaks in broken English or is yelling at someone.

greg didn't vote in the 2003 municipal election because he was sent to indianapolis for work and was unable to return in time to vote. other than that, he has a sparkling voting record. thank god for early voting!

interesting that stone and naisy use the same oppo to attack greg. is this a sign of collusion between the two campaigns? after all, naisy repeatedly claims to have been recruited "by the mayor's office"...

If voting three times since 1999 is a sparkling voting record I'm sure we have some good old-fashioned Chicago "dead vote" records out there that would surpass that!

And using work as an excuse is a tad weak for a person wanting to hold public office. When one works in a client-driven business such as he does you know you might be called away so you fill out an absentee ballot and get it done and taken care of should you be called away for last-minute business travel.

Given that we have Aftab with a hate crime record, Brewer deeply in debt and not garnering support outside of the white residents, and Stone wanting very much to make sure genes trump democracy, if Dolar's worst sin is a timeline residency error, I just might vote for her.

You may be misinformed about Greg. Greg has voted more than 3 times since 1999. Our database shows that he's voted in every election but two since 1999.

But that is a minor oversight. Greg did not seek to hold public office, it is something that has been asked of him by his neighbors like Irv Loundy. He is not a politician. He is a concerned citizen who regretfully concluded, as he likes to say, that it would be easier to be the alderman than to fight the alderman.

Greg didn't design his resume designed to run for office. But he does have proven experience that demonstrates that he gets things done. The choice in this election is simple: between someone who will bring real change to the ward, unite it and harness the vibrant voices and energy in the ward to make it a better place, Greg Brewer, *or* the status quo.

Campaign Team –

It is true – politicians have come from many diverse backgrounds. For the sake of argument having the skills to bring a building project to fruition and managing and addressing the needs, wants, and agendas of a population of over 60,000 residents and however many countries and religions they represent are two very different things. Greg sounds almost like a reluctant candidate and that’s not good for the rest of us. Please comment on the fact that he’s only been able to raise approximately $10,000 apart from the loans he took out and is now $85,000 in debt as well as the fact that the only people I see around him are white people. His canvassers, coffee attendees, supporters, and staff – with the rare exception are all white, please do correct me if I am wrong. We are all trying to sort out and decide on the best candidate to vote Stone out of office - we need a leader with the support of many, not some, residents of the ward.

opps. greg obviously knows better than i! i've obviously got the super bowl on the brain.

as for our staff, we have a majority minority staff. this is not by design. i've hired the best people for their jobs. it just so happens that we have a majority of non-white folks on our staff.

i'm surprised that you don't recognize the similarities between managing international projects and teams of diverse personnel and managing the 50th ward. greg's experience is one of the reasons why he has been able to navigate city hall so easily and to serve as bernie stone's nemesis in the past year or so. greg's ability to get things done at city hall prompted stone to claim that greg had a spy there! it didn't occur to stone that greg is simply that competent.

greg was reluctant to run, but there has been nothing reluctant since he made the decision to run. that is why he has loaned his campaign money. that's why he's hired a professional staff. that's why we are building a broad coalition of people in the 50th. greg has substantial support throughout the ward -- much more than the other challengers. perhaps if you attended one of his coffees you would see that his support is broad and diverse. or you could just look at his endorsement page. greg's endorsers actually live in the ward!

greg is the only candidate positioned to beat stone. that's the opinion of seiu (why do you think they tried to coax naisy out of the race?), the cfl and every major political player i can think of in the city. that doesn't mean that naisy is not a nice person. she's simply not prepared for this challenge (winning this election). i suspect some day she will be. but greg is prepared now. we are prepared. and stone knows it.

thanks for your consideration. obviously i think that greg is the best candidate. i am grateful for all the support that we've found in the 50th ward!

campaign team:

Endorsements from AFSCME. In 2002 while non union and other union city employees were taing unpaid days off to advoid layoff, AFSCME was filing grievances because the city stop buying bottle water for employees to save Money. AFSCME represented employees were not ask to take such days.

As for 2003 not voting, I saw on Greg casting an early on his website today. He could not di that in 2003?

As for his expertise has he ever built a build in Chicago using the city permit process. It is alot different from the University he claim to fame that he put in the middle east but now does not list that on his website. Is this his city hall expertise?
