The Case for Naisy Dolar

Again, trying to go out on Tuesday on a positive note. The case for Naisy Dolar may not be as straight-forward, but it's not difficult either. Whether you care for Dolar or not, you have to admit that she has an impressive resume, suited for service at city hall. How many newly-elected (or selected) alderman have five or more years working downtown before they were elected? Ald. Stone didn't.

Naisy Dolar is as invested in the future of the ward as anyone. While Dolar may not have lived here all her life, she has for most of her life and all her adult life. She has children here and owns a home. She has strong ties to the community, both politically and through her activism.

Dolar was methodical in her preparation for this campaign. She ran for a Local School Council, and became involved in local education issues. She conducted her own survey of the community about issues of concern. She met with local influentials in the effort to hear their views (and convince them to support her). She has attempted to build a movement behind community participation.

Dolar has made much out of being the first Asian-American alderman. While I haven't heard that this has caught on among the Asian-Americans in our community (most of those I know support Stone), the cry for diversity has caught on in the greater Chicago area. Naisy Dolar has definitely excited a certain element in our area, and one expects that she would bring that energy and excitement to the city council.

Dolar is young and ambitious. Both could bode well for the 50th. One of the positives many of his supporters cite for Ald. Stone is that he's been there a long time. Dolar has that same potential, longevity in office.

Consider this an open thread about why you support Naisy Dolar in this election. Try to keep it positive.

I support Naisy because I've known her since 1998. She is smart, energetic, and committed to positive change. I like her ideas about a youth council in the ward. Go, Naisy Dolar on April 17. Thanks for such a great post, today, Jay.

the ONLY case to be made for Dolar is to be FAKE of the YEAR.Nasty Naisy is so in DEBT to SEIU that she will be a total SEIU STOOGE.This is very important to realize, AS NAISY ONLY SEEKS TO BE EVERYONE ELSE'S REPRESENTATIVE SUCH ASONE ETHNIC

Not attempted, she HAS built such a movement. Win or lose, Naisy deserves credit for building a diverse, extremely motivated grassroots campaign. As someone who believes in "people power," this is exactly the kind of inclusive campaign that I want to see succeed, because if Naisy wins she won't be answerable to the Mayor or Walmart, but to the PEOPLE of the Ward. What a notion!

Anonymous at 11:15 -- Stone has more money from special interest groups than Naisy has from SEIU. So so much for being a stooge.

What ANON 8:27a.m. Posted is yet another example of the CONFRONTATIONAL tactics of the HATE-RIDDLED DOLAR CAMPAIGN.The Dolar High-Command are professional anti-American "organizers "from the icirr and confrontation and bad feeling is what they do.Now,our community has become the TARGET of these PROFESSIONAL HATE-Mongers.

I'm not sure about that and I don't like throwing the word anti-ameican around. They've got the right to say what they have. But, if the Dolar campaign tries to depict their candidate as someone with high morals and honesty, they've failed with the nonsensical hyperbole against Stone. And how about below the belt campaigning? They hit Brewer with that really negative campaign stuff about how he hadn't voted in the ward at the last minute and they keep using words like "cowardly" and "lying" against Stone. That makes them look really really bad. People don't like that language at all--and if it's true, you should be able to present the facts in such a light that the reader reaches that conclusion himself.

The SEIU came out the worst in this election with that drivel material with the same charges. HOw much did that cost its members??????

And it was just a repeat of the same charges that Stone explained--if those four charges over a 34 year year term are the best they could do, they should have saved their members some money.

Look, anyone who serves on a LSC deserves some credit. I don't know what Naisy's local neighborhood school is and maybe she could have helped more needy children if she was on that council, but the fact remains that she is on a LSC.

If she is serving on teh Decatur LSC so that her kids will be able to get into the school, more power to her. Wish I had thought of it.

It would be a nice life. Open your aldermanic office a few blocks from where you live, walk your kids to school in the morning, spend some time in the office and downtown as needed and then be there in time to pick up the kids--all at a decent salary.

But, I don't think serving on the Decatur LSC is the same as serving on the Armstrong or Boone LSC. They don't get to test the kids--they have to take what they get.

It is odd that there was a period of 2 weeks that the Dolar campaign waited before responding on the debate issue.

Then, they apparently responded to the Stone camp during Passover and set the timetable for a response over this holiest of jewish holidays. I don't think that someone with years of touted diversity training would do this accidentally.

Can any of her endorsers actualyy vote for Her. I Know Terry O,Brien and Irs Silverstein can and will vote for Stone.

AFSCME #31 sent more grievances t arbitration 2006 with the city of chicago then all other civikian union combined. However they lost most of them and have the worst success rate in arbitration again in thecity than any other union.

SEIU members cant come to work at Ohare airport on average 25% of the time.Hoever then could call in sick to work and then go to a union meeting and derail an agreement aimed at saving their jobs. So they get layed off and now SEIU is mad at Berny.. Thats why the r eal unions Plumbers, IBEW 134 etcsupprt Stone.

REPUBLICAN FOR DOLAR

Even though there are fewer than 500 of us in the 50th Ward serious Republicans must wish Naisy well because she is helping to destroy the lefty stranglehold on our area by creating such chaos in the Demo ranks.

Just as when Harold Washington became Mayor and the New Republicans under Vrdolyak became a force in Chicago politics, if an extreme multiculturalist like Dolar wins here, it will create fissures in the Demo ranks that will drive conservative Jews and Catholics into the only alternative -- the GOP.

Because of Dolar, Schakowsky is now no longer loved by many who once thought her unassailable.

GO Naisy, GO!

The 50th ward is forever changed with a new awakening and hope as citizens have become more involved than ever before in determining the future of the ward and the city of Chicago.

There is no case for Naisy Dolar! She and her "campaign team" have used every lie, untruth, innuendo and dirty tactic, including the FALSE accusations of "sign stealing" to attempt to fool the voters. The same tactics that BLEW UP on Brewer are going to do the same to Ms. Nasty. Also,I have to agree with those neighbors who see a bit of Fascism in the Dolar Campaign and its Tactics and Yes the Yellow Hats and now shirts do remind one of BROWNSHIRTS as does Dolar's BIG LIE Strategy.

The Dolar Lie Machine is in full operation ,now. They are pulling the same BIG LIE that was employed by the Brewer Campaign, accusing Stone's supporters of stealing their signs;see how well that worked out for Brewer. This is apparently Disguised Fascists of America standard DIRTY campaign procedure. What these whacko extremists and their Seiu allies do is to bring in unknowns ,in the middle of the night, and with a provided list remove THEIR OWN SIGNS,creating a real situation that they can play victim and make THEIR FALSE ACCUSATIONS.Their secondary goal in this unclean deed is to fire up their base and try to fool anyone else that they can.

i was kinda wondering about the sign stealing myself. if so many signs were stolen, how come nobody saw them being stolen. it crossed my mind that it was an opportunity for naisy dolar to actually look good by telling everybody just to come pick up some more. jan schakowsky was with her yesterday. maybe she gave her some political advice.

also, how can anyone use jesse jackson jr's endorsement as a reason to vote for dolar?

also that naisylies site was so bad it caused me to wonder if maybe the dolar people put it up to make the stone people look bad. problem is you just can't trust her after what she did to brewer and her diatribe against stone.

I attended a coffee for Naisy last week that included Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. Jan said that Ira Silverstein told her he did not authorize the use of his name on the Stone mailer that went out and after speaking with Ald. Stone about it told him to never use his name again on anything. Doesn’t sound like a man who will vote for Stone…
