A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

We spent a good part of the afternoon doing errands yesterday. What a beautiful day! Lots of people out, walking around the neighborhood, putting around in the yard, and just generally taking advantage of the mild temperatures.

I did notice that there were lots of For Sale signs up. I don't know if there are more than usual or just that I am more aware of them now (the reason for which is another post).

While driving around the ward, though, I was impressed by the rich diversity of the neighborhood. A man with a grey beard in a long white garb and black headcap walking with his son or grandson (?), young boys with payos playing basketball, young couples with strollers -- some of them looking at houses -- young people jogging and on bicycles. A fresh breeze invigorated all of them. Around Devon, as always, the level of activity increased. What a day!

Finally you speak highly of your neighborhood... So I guess Alderman Stone cant take any credit for any of what you said here? However, he will always get the blame here for everything.

I am leaving your blog as well just like Capsman. All you have here are whiners and complainers who blame stone for everything and all of the other whiners and complainers agree with each other. Wake up and see what a great area we live in but all you do is blame the Alderman for everything

I don't know about anyone else, but my opposition to bernie stone was always because I loved the neighborhood.

Question: What's going on at the Lincoln Village theater? Does the city want to put it out of business? We just went to a movie at the Lincoln Village theater and the parking lot is blocked with cement blocks. When we asked the theater where we could park they told us we could park in the Home Depot parking lot. We asked why thre isn't a sign on the cement blocks telling people where they could park on the cement blocks they told us that the city kept tearing those signs down. Why? Does anyone know? Is the alderman up to something?
