Aftab's Southern Strategy
It is easy to write off Salman Aftab. Naisy Dolar supporters wished he would have dropped out. Fellow Pakistanis don't take him seriously. Ald. Stone hardly gets perturbed when he yanks Stone's chains. But friends who reside south of Devon tell us that Aftab is working hard to win votes there.
Some of this area is Stone territory. But there is also a heavy rental community with a different culture than traditional Stone territory. This seems to be where Aftab is concentrating. My father contends that homeowners vote, and apartment dwellers don't. But that was also said of new immigrants, and that is changing. Aftab's strategy, if that is what it is, is interesting. Perhaps even bold.
One thing that Aftab's Southern Strategy could do is boost turnout. Given that this area, the one that Aftab is concentrating on, is severely neglected by Stone, they may be likely to be intimidated by Stone's thugs. What do they have to lose? Stone doesn't care about them anyway.

Don't make false charges!Stone does not use thugs ,but Aftab sure does. I know several people,individuals and business owners who say Aftab and his "goon squad" paid them a visit to persuade them to remove a Stone sign and replace it with an Aftab sign.
I wonder if the use knifes?
Did you all notice the updated stone website? Stone is endorsed by almost every elected official in the ward… that sucks for brewer and dolar
In the 2001 race for Mayor and Board of Trustees in Skokie, the Skokie Community Vision Party, an anti-Sutker machine effort ran a Pakistani-Moslem businessman on their slate, Mohammed Farooqui.
His main contribution to the ticket was getting scores of fellow Pakistanis to put up lawn signs.
It turned out a high percentage of them were unregistered or just didn't turnout to vote.
His presence on the ticket antagonized Russian-Jewish voters upset by Chechnyan Moslem terrorism and drove most Hindu Indians into the Sutker camp.
I'd be surprised if Aftab got 500 votes.

Aftab is NO Farooqui. He has jews, Assyrians, white, hispanic, muslims, hindus, african americans all either volunteers or staff members in his campaign. His yard signs are not only muslims homes but Jewish homes as well. Go look at Lunt and Sacrimanto, washtenaw and morse, howard and rockwell etc etc. He is got several high profile endorsements such as: Clinton's white house advisor Pete Dagher, Commisioner Peraica, Commissioner Avila, State Senator Steve Rauschenberger, Chicago Park district Commissioner Roy Shalabi. Obama is TOO high profile right now otherwise Aftab was gonna get his endorsement as well. Stone being Alderman for 33 years, this is NOTHING.

because obama is high profile, his endorsement would matter greatly. if he really believed in aftab, he would certainly go public with an endorsement. understand politics -- u.s. senators have no benefit of endorsing aldermanic candidates and i highly doubt he would consider aftab.
Has anyone seen Aftab's entire arrest record? I hear there was an attempted murder arrest, I'm also hearing that Bernie is releasing Aftab's arrest record later this week. Should be interesting.
So before the Aftab claims a nonexistent Obama endorsement he might want to make sure there are no copies of his entire arrest record floating around.
For the record, Aftab is Turkish, not Pakistani.
As for that arrest the previous blogger mentioned, it was a bogus charge and was dropped. I suspect that this came from the Brewer camp, inasmuch as that candidate is being pushed by "Lying" Joe Moore of the 49th Ward and Cong. Jan Schakowsky (and presumably by Schakosky's husband, now that he is done with that "40 lashes with the wet noodle" federal prison sentence of his).
The Illinois Committee for Honest Government is proud to have endorsed Salam Aftab for 50th Ward Alderman.
Salman may have an arrest record, but he has NO convictions
he probably should of expunged or sealed his record, but he has nothing to hide

Should we look into the corruption record of Bernie Stone or his connection to actual mob hit man and murderers?
Does Naisy Dolar want to talk about her asking convicted felon Dominic the King of vote fruad Longo to help or to informant Mary Jo Falcon and the Sorich corruption trial.
